In addition to my role as editor-in-chief here at techPortal, I am lucky enough to be able to get involved with some of the other cool things that Ibuildings does. This year that includes the opportunity to host the Dutch PHP Conference in Amsterdam in June, which is very exciting! We’ve been busy putting everything in place for the event and our schedule is now available over at http://phpconference.nl/schedule (go check it out, I’ll wait).
So now you’ve seen the schedule, you probably want to join us! The tickets are on sale over at http://phpconference.nl/register – the early bird tickets run until the end of April and I hope many of the readers of techPortal will be able to make it. Since its an Ibuildings event there will be plenty of familiar faces from the authors you see posting here, and some of them will also be speaking at the event! We’ve also got a special opportunity for techportal readers …
Ticket Giveaway
We have a ticket to give away which will grant access to the main conference days at the Dutch PHP Conference – so if you can get to Amsterdam in June, and you want a pass, simply leave a comment on this post with a valid email address and we will pick a lucky winner at random! Make sure to leave your comment before 16th March, when we’ll be doing the draw to choose a winner.
Real-world events are a great way to continue learning on excellent topics, and DPC is absolutely the best place to do that (OK so I may be slightly biased! Other good PHP conferences do exist). If you’re new to conferences, or need persuading, then check out some of these excellent posts:
- So it’s your first conference? – Keith Casey
- Lame excuses for avoiding conferences – Lorna Mitchell
- Advice to a conference virgin – Stuart Herbert
- Guide to Conferences – Ivo Jansch (contains tips for persuading the boss, very useful!)
Don’t forget – if you want to win, leave us a comment before March 16th!

I surely attend, and hoping to convince some colleguages to come as well!
Last year was great, so I’ll see if I can arrange to come again and convince some other people to come too !
The conference last year was a blast, and I see a good lineup for this year. Hope I can attend this year too!
Only went once (last year) and I’m hooked, not only great talks but lots of nice int’l people. See ya in June!
The schedule looks promising. Chances are good that we will be attending again this year :)
I agree. Interesting topics on the tutorial day too.
With such a great schedule it would be mistake not being there!
With this year being the third installment i hope to be attending, i fear i’m spoiled already for any other conference i’ll ever go to as everyone keeps talking about how awesome it is. But in all honesty: Last two absolutely delivered!
Good luck in your new role as head honcho, Lorna :)
I would like to be there! Very interesting schedule, looks awesome.
Missed out last year, but have been religiously listening to DPC radio. I think it’s great you guys are contributing so much to the community. The schedule looks amazing with some great talks and I’m impressed you’ve got Kevlin Henney there for the keynote, he rocks. Now off to buy his book.
Hope I’ll be attending DPC @ Amsterdam, seems to be very interesting topics and speakers
I would be so there! It would be my first time to Dutch PHP Conference.
if (rand(1,1) > 0)
echo “I’m attending DPC10!”;
echo “I’m attending DPC10!”;
Fingers crossed!
Sorry for the double posts, WordPress was giving me error pages, no clues that my post was succesful. Please remove (n-1) of them. :-)
I knew I shouldn’t have promised to help out at my children’s shool early june…Now what am I going to do, tell the school I won’t be there or only get one day of DPC? Well, I couldn’t remember 3 days’ content last year…
I really hope I can attend! There is no budget for offsite training this year.
Hoping to win a ticket! :)
I was there last year, and I really loved it! I would love to be there again, but can’t afford it by myself.
Great schedule! Hoping to win ;)
I’d love to come…
I would love to attend a PHP conference.

Fingers Crossed.. Would love to come!
Topics are really interesting, I hope to get the ticket!

loved in 2008, couldn’t afford 2009. I am hoping to go this year, especially with the quality of the topics and speakers
Would love to attent.
Would love to attend the conference. As i am a student i can’t afford a ticket myself. Let’s hope the random generator picks me :)
oh please oh please oh please pick me. as a poor college student, i can’t even afford a ticket to tek-x, and it’s only 3 hours away. but if perchance i’m picked randomly, rest assured i will hitchhike (hah!) to DPC if necessary!!
Feb 18 < March 16. Great conf!
I am listening to podcasts from last year’s conference and thinking it would be great to be a part of this one.
<?php
class Conference{
public function iWantTicket(){
$me=$want.$it;
}
}
pick me pick me!!!
i’d love to go…
I would say “pick me, pick me” .. but im sure the code you write to randomly pick a winner won’t take that into account ;)
*Crosses fingers* would love to go to this conference
One more potential winner signing up! I’d totally love to go
I need the ticket! Good luck all to win ticket.
I would love to go, so far i have never been to a conference
Would love to win the ticket. See ya!
Never been to conference always wanted to travel overseas !
Never been to a conference yet, but I definitely want to attend one. Looks like a great way to learn new things.
I would love to come.
I want to go!
Looks like a very good event, very keen to going there :)
Novel idea to get people posting. Would I expect any less?
Hi Lorna, I love Amsterdam and would be honored to win a ticket.
I’d love to learn some tricks from the best in Amsterdam!
Well, I’m trying to convince my boss but I’m quite sure I got more of a chance getting a ticket here then from my work, unfortunately. Would love to go there.
why not, php benelux was nice :)
Hope I’ll win! Fingers crossed :D
So much to see, so little time. Will definitely be trying to come over (from .au – we don’t get the chance to attend a lot of confs as they’re all so far away) … but how in the world am I to convince the boss that I need to take my team as well???
I would like to participate.
I would love to attend, The only PHP conference I have been able to attend was ZendCon in 2008. It would be amazing to attend the sessions on Testing untestable code, APC & Memcache the High Performance Duo and Debugging techniques with Xdebug.
Well, nothing ventured is nothing gained :)
Sorry that I didn’t make it onto the speaker schedule, but hoping this gives me a shot to attend anyways. ;) Thanks for giving us all this opportunity.
Great event indeed :) Would love to attend. Cheers
I would like to attend… fingers crossed
It could be me or it could be someone else. That gives me a 50% chance to win!
I totally need that pass :(
I’d love to come :)
I would like to attend!
With the numerous amount of people who will be going and the amount of comments on this posting it’s going to be extremely unlikely that i’ll win one.. But there is more chance to win if i comment than if i don’t.. So here i am commenting with my fingers crossed :)
I really really really want to go. DPC is always fun!
Count me in :) Always nice to attend those conferences
I would like to attend!
Cool idea for a prize! Count me in
Count me in too. :)
Looking forward to randomize myself :D
Oh my, i never win something so let this be the first time :)
Yay! Schedule is definitely impressive, hope that your rand() implementation is biased towards #73 ;)

Laat alleen zeggen im houden mijn vingers gekruist.
I have my eyebrows raised in anticipation. Woop!
I’ll be there ! :)
I’ve already entered two other competitions to get to the DPC. 3rd times a charm :)
A chance to indulge in foreign beers, get some air miles and bump intellectual heads with some fine PHP bods…nah.
But if there’s a ticket going I may have to partake, Though I’m staying away from those dogey cafes, the latte really isnt up to starbucks standards…)
My change. :)
Yes please!
