Ibuildings live and breathe open source. Wherever possible, we use open standards in our client projects – but we also like to give something back to the community. Our employees dedicate part of their working hours to various open source projects, and we also actively seek to open source components that we’ve built for specific client needs. This page is dedicated to the projects we're currently working on. We hope they'll be useful for others, too.

Smarty

Although Smarty is known as a "Template Engine", it would be more accurately described as a "Template/Presentation Framework." It provides the programmer and template designer with a wealth of tools to automate tasks commonly dealt with at the presentation layer of an application. Smarty's focus is on quick and painless development and deployment of your application, while maintaining high-performance, scalability, security and future growth.

Our corporate contributions

  • Various fixes and features in Smarty's early days
  • Allegedly we have suggested the infamous {foreach} loop over {section}

Zend Framework

Extending the art & spirit of PHP, Zend Framework is based on simplicity, object-oriented best practices, corporate friendly licensing, and a rigorously tested agile codebase. Zend Framework is focused on building more secure, reliable, and modern Web 2.0 applications & web services, and consuming widely available APIs from leading vendors. So far, the framework has been downloaded over 10 million times.

Our corporate contributions

  • A number of small fixes
  • Participation/sponsoring of testfests and bug hunt days
